The government has a laissez-faire approach towards the public space management in rural area and most of the public space has become target place for illegal dumping due to rapid urban development in Hong Kong.
This one week in-situ workshop aims to reconvert this negative phenomenon by proposing upcycling approach to tackle rural waste problem and to revitalize rural public space through community engagement.
Within a limited budget, students and villagers from Tai Kong Po have used participatory design method to come up with a design solution which make full use of existing materials and human resources within the village community.
